The key point would be that this would be their "reward." Instead of dying or going into non-existence, they're allowed to continue but without being superheroes. They're just people who are living their lives in DCnU. They were never superheroes and don't remember that they were superheroes. I can imagine Wally walking home from work, slightly late, and accidentally catching Dick Grayson in Hally's Circus in an advertisement. For a half second, Wally remembers his times as a Titan flooding back to him and the friends he once fought beside. But that memory is fleeting and then Linda calls him to tell him that Jai got straight As this semester and he forgets... He's happy with his life and he lives happily ever after with Linda and the kids. I'm with Iskander on this one. I would prefered see them as still being superheroes in a world which we will see no more. That's their reward, still being themselves.

I get it. I understand why you would want it that way. But the "Whatever Happened To..." is always about the end of the story and I figure what better way to end the second generation of heroes but to grow them up and let them do what their mentors (due to time or rebooting) could never do: grow up and live their lives.
If you look at the scope of DC's "second" generation, that's their story. Starman is the only one to really get away and lead a normal life with his children. Troia got married and tried to raise her children, but was brought back to being a superhero by horrifyingly killing her husband and child. Roy Harper had his daughter killed. Wally had his children' endangered time and time again because of his super powers. Aqualad had his wife and child murdered. Green Arrow 2 was continually rejected by his father.
Every time these characters tried to grow up, the "life" destroyed their ability to move forward and not be like their mentors. I always thought that if you wanted to do a "Whatever Happened To..." for 20-30ish young adults, the happy ending would be that they were able to grow up outside of the powers and tights world.
Just my two cents. I know, I'm just pitching ideas and all, but I thought I should clarify this a bit.

I get it, and as I said before, these are good ideas, but I want to keep Superman's "neverending battle" as a concept here, I think it's something that should be valid for the whole DC.
