This issue was hard to write, but I've wanted to use this version of Sabbac for years. Shazam! is one of those titles I feel I really want to write, but know that when it comes down to it I don't think I could deliver. I think I was up for it, once, ages ago, before Mischief came onboard. It fell through because I just couldn't settle on what I wanted to say about the character. Anyway, I hope if anyone chooses to read the story, they enjoy it.

I just couldn't settle on what I wanted to say about the character. Anyway, I hope if anyone chooses to read the story, they enjoy it. I dunno Charlie. It read like you knew exactly what you wanted to say. I found it a good read and I certainly enjoyed the duality of the good v. evil aspect of the conflict with Marvel and Sabbac. I really liked the introduction of Lady Blaze and I hope to see more done with her in the past (It's hard to keep a good demoness down). The fight scene seemed a bit truncated... and nice touch remembering that sound doesn't travel in space but the brief battle was certainly made up for with the rise of Ishmael as the new Sabbac and the unholy bargain that he made. Good work, Charlie!

I really liked the introduction of Lady Blaze and I hope to see more done with her in the past (It's hard to keep a good demoness down). It only made sense to have the two characters somehow linked-- they're the same concept, after all, but with the shift of good to evil. Sabbac is scary as all Hell-- punny!-- and deserves to be a threat. And it made sense that if there is a balance (yes, I know I've just introduced that concept, but it's something I want to someday explore), and that neither Marvel or Sabbac could hurt each other because of it. It would take more than just the sum of their parts to beat each other. But I also thought about this. Captain Marvel and Sabbac can't hurt each other. Captain Marvel can beat the Hell out of Superman. So what would Superman do when confronted with Sabbac? ... You'll see soon enough. The fight scene seemed a bit truncated... and nice touch remembering that sound doesn't travel in space but the brief battle was certainly made up for with the rise of Ishmael as the new Sabbac and the unholy bargain that he made. Yeah, the fight scene was the hardest thing to write, I'm not going to lie. The introduction of the other Marvels into the fray was a late addition to, and I was worried that it would serve as "Sabbac is awesome so he's going to beat up your supporting cast" moment, but the way it turned out was quite pleasing. And the sign-language bit was just like... it made sense. Not only that, but personally I like the idea that the Marvels, magic as they are, can survive unaided in space. It just makes sense. They're amazing characters, and I wanted to showcase it. I really appreciate you take the time to read the issue, James. Really enjoyed your Ult. Supergirl story too, great addition to this lil' event.

I thought this was an extremely well done story, Charlie. It was definatley a change of pace from the the series so far, a bit darker in spots but I've never seen Sabbac so damn scary.
THe duality theme of good vs evil was an excellent choice as well, used in a very fresh way.
Great job my friend. Your love for DC and all its characters is ever present in everything you write.

Yeah, I didn't want Sabbac to feel pathetic. And I didn't want him to feel weak. I wanted them to be on an even field and I wanted him to be a terrifying opponent for Billy-- and now he's got one thing over him... he can't turn back. That's daunting, but in-keeping with Ishmael Gregor, I think. THe duality theme of good vs evil was an excellent choice as well, used in a very fresh way. Thanks, glad that came through. You can pretty much tell I was daunted by this story, so, eh, cool!! Glad it didn't turn out as awfully as I thought it had. Great job my friend. Your love for DC and all its characters is ever present in everything you write. Kinds words, Brian. I appreciate them.
