Please tell us what you think of this issue of DC2 Showcase Vol. II! Personally, my heart was nearly broken by the first story by Susan Hillwig, our surprise guest here at Showcase, with a story that builds off and toward all the brilliant work she's doing with Weird Western Quarterly, and what Kevin has been helping do in The Flash. It was a beautifully emotionally piece of writing, and no one could have done it better than you did, Susie!! The stand out story from the anthology, and one of the best things I've read on the site for a long time. Fan tastic. Dave, I really thought this brought the serial you've been writing back on track for me. The banter was awesome (and familiar to someone who lives in the internet generation... iGeneration?) and I did not see that cliffhanger coming. A really good, tight instalment, though I think I might know who she is! I hope I'm wrong Don! Don! I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but her?! Say it ain't so! A really thrilling piece, and next month cannot come soon enough! Really awesome work from everyone this time around, and I'm really proud to be the one who had the pleasure of bringing this together. Bravo, guys.

Nice job on the posting/editing of this, Charlie. I hadn't thought of identifying colors for the posters on HEROES. Thanks!

Just read "Mending Fences" and find myself humbled again by the audacious talent of Susan Hillwig. I say audacious because this is a risky story for a superhero fan fic site: there's no derring-do here, no spandex or fireworks. Just two characters connecting (their actions are actually spoiled by the title). And that's the genius. This one little moment between two old friends, evoking history and tragedy (not to mention not one, not two, but three fantastic DC2 series), convincing us once again that in her hands these are not two-dimensional characters on a page, but real people Susie is revealing to us.

I hope I'm wrong Well, with only two previous establishing installments to go on, not sure how it could have gone off the track I was setting up, but I'm glad you enjoyed this outing. The HEROES stuff is a lot of fun writing, and no real-life DC2ers were harmed in the making of this story--- but anyone care to guess who was who (one should be fairly obvious)...? Not sure why you'd want to be wrong about your guess who "she" is (I mean, other than for consistency's sake )--- after all, were not "ultimatizing" here, and fans of the DCU versions should be able to recognize their favorite series and characters, right? Thanks for the feedback, Charlie! I hope I continue to live up to your expectations!

First off, thanks to Charlie for the surprise posting. I didn't know when "Mending Fences" would turn up, but I wasn't expecting it so soon. Also a thank-you to Kevin, as his work with bringing Max Mercury into the current FLASH arc really inspired the piece -- it was just one of those "holy crap" sort of ideas that can only occur to me when certain things are in alignment. As for the story's lack of derring-do...well, I'll try to make up for it in WWQ#12, which will feature Chris....I mean Max...you know who I mean! More Hero-Dialing! Yay! And Doctor Light! Boo! Seems fitting that our old-school hero gets a mustache-twirling sort of putz for a villain. And I I think I know who the girl is...but how did she get the superpowers, THAT'S the question! Big tension on the Crimson Avenger front! Very heavy mood all around here, plus Wing tells off his boss! Watch it , pal, or you'll be searching for a spot in the bread line (we're not too far removed from the Depression here, right?) And back on the subject of girls and secret identities...I smell a red herring here! And lastly, I must mention the cover, which got loaded while I was reading the issue. I love how Dr. Dread put Vig and Crimson together like that...two old Soldiers fighting alongside for one last time!

Wow! Three very different, very well done pieces of work, here.
Don's story just keeps getting better and better, with the mystery building into what is sure to be a great finale. I was a bit taken aback by who the killer may be, as well, but if that's who it is... excellent! The train scene had to be my favorite moment though.
David's story continues to be fun, fun, fun! This outing was particularly enjoyable since I'm pretty sure I picked up on three, maybe four DC2 members who made an e-appearance. ;D And not to sound biased at all, but that arrow loving guy seems pretty cool to me.
Also nice stuff with Dr. Light. Very much like the Light of old. Can't wait to see how this plays out!
Susan... whoa! This was an extremely engrossing piece. Being a fan of your WWQ and of the Flash stuff, I loved how this piece tied it together. Very emotional and heartfelt. Well crafted. Just... just bloody brilliant, to be honest.
Doc, awesome cover! Caught my eye right off the bat.
Charlie, great editing on this.
Thanks to everyone. DC2 Showcase has been a hit for the last few months and kudos to all that have made it that way.

Doc, awesome cover! Caught my eye right off the bat. Thanks. It's the second cover I've created using Adobe Illustrator. I've only just started scratching at the surface of this tool. So far so good.

D'oh! Don't know how I forgot to mention that cover! Beautiful work, Doc (as usual). It has a real old Hollywood movie-serial feel to it, which suits the featured characters perfectly!

And I I think I know who the girl is...but how did she get the superpowers, THAT'S the question! Exactly right, Soose! Dial "H" Chapter 4 (appearing in Showcase #7) will feature the origin of our mysterious Miss Blisterfist! And putz is exactly the word for Dr. Light. I wanted a supervillain, but no one too sinister (though sinister enough, given his post-Identity Crisis history). I toyed around with Toyman, Crazy Quilt and a few others, but Arthur seemed to nudge his way in. Thanks for the feedback (and for classin' up the joint with your own installment)!

And yes, that arrow-lovin' guy is one of my favorites, too !

Susan: Eloquent. He really needs to forgive himself. That's the one person who hasn't, yet.
Dave: Fun fun stuff. Yes, one of the chatters was VERY obvious.
Don: Nah I suspect a twist here, and I think I know who the killer really is, but if I'm wrong I don't want egg on my face, and if I'm right I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.

Glad I've got the majority of you all excited about Crimson Avenger and Wing and the perils surrounding them. This is a fun, fun story to write, and mysteries are hard, especially in a confined space, but this one is just really coming together for me. Glad the mood and the action are heavy and fun, glad the twists are working, and yeah, maybe Jay is right. Have to wait for the next installment to see though Susan, as always, your writing is top-notch, second to none and the wonderful drama and connection between two old friends coming together at a quiet, calm moment of reflection was beautiful. I loved it. Keep them coming. David, fun piece as always, just the way Dial H should be. Seeing the female Dialer step up to the plate was cool, the internet conversations were fun to read, and while Doctor Light came across as melodramatic and theatrical, he doesn't seem to be a pushover either, and that's a nice balance. And the cover was indeed fantastic. I loved the different mono-color schemes for the three figures/stories. A round of applause for the artist. Take care Don
