The end of Justice League, the end of an era

I really feel like this is the end of an era. Bruce Timm's DCAU cartoons began in 1992 with BTAS, where he showed that superhero cartoons didn't have to be done half-fast and they could also contain some great storylines. He showed that just because the cartoon starred a superhero, it didn't have to be crappy. Now, after the huge sucess of all of his cartoons and a spectacular finale hoorah , what have the people who make superhero cartoons learned? Absolutely nothing. I feel as if the superhero cartoon universe come full circle. From crap (Hanna-Barbara cartoons, possibly excluding "Superfriends") to amazingly good (BTAS, STAS, JL), and back to crap (Teen Titans, The Batman, the Legion [don't tell me I haven't seen it yet, you know it's gonna suck]). It seems like the people behind the desks have learned nothing from this excellent saga told in the course of 15 years. I think it's really pathetic when I realize that THIS creative team seems to be the only one on the face of the Earth that can make a good superhero cartoon. I will really miss the DCAU.

Anyway, I found tonight's episode to be a really good closure. The "I feel like I'm living in a cardboard world" line was one of the best all season. It was really cool to see Superman unleash his true power. That whole Superman/Darkseid battle was really well done. I really liked the ending of this episode, with all the heroes zooming down the stairs. And, yes, the last millisecond of the episode showed the Bat-symbol on Batman's chest, a great closure to the DCAU.

P.S. Cartoon Network just lost another viewer, seeing that JLU is the only show on it I watch.

I loved these guys. When I was little I woke up every morning to watch TBAS and when I was a little older I watched TSAS on the side. Then JL came out and I've become older and could understand the story a little better but did I outgrow it? Never. Now it's ended and people are gonna try to replace what the Bruce Timm had and they'll fail miserably but I'll probably watch anyway for my good DC cartoon fix. These cartoons raised me, and now I'm sad they're gone, but they'll always be with me in my heart and in my DVD collection.

I'm hoping they do movies here and there down the road, and if they don't, I'm gonna cry!

The best part was the run-down at the end: if you watch closely, they're running down the steps in specific groups. In no particular order ('cuz I can't remember all of the groupings):

- the SSoV (Stargirl&Stripe, Shining Knight, Vigilante, Crimson Avenger)
-Golden Age guys (Dr. Fate, Wildcat, Dr. Midnite)
-Satellite League (um...I don't remember, but I knew it when I saw it! )
-Detroit League (Vibe, Gypsy, Steel...great, THOSE guys I remember! )
-Giffen-era League (Elongated Man, Booster, Ice, Fire)
-Original 7 League (Flash, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, GL, and of course Supes, WW, and Bats finishing it up)

I never got to watch much of the show when ot was on but I found quite a few episodes on youtube. I will probably get all the DVDs now. Does anyone know if all the seasons are out yet?

They've started releasing complete Unlimited sets, haven't they? Or have they not? BRAAANDON!!!

They are up to the third season. The show was just "Justice League" for the first two seasons and changed format and title to become "Justice League Unlimited" after that. So when you get to season three it will be called "Justice League Unlimited Season One". It ran for two more seasons after that by that name but those have yet to be released.

Man, the stuff with Question and Cadmuc is my favorite arc in the show. I love the Question singing as he breaks through the glass of that building.
