I give this issue 5 BIG stars. I knew I left this title in good hands!
Your introduction of the Zamarons & the battle for the title of Star Sapphire was a great spin! So Carol now knows, huh? I didn't see that coming! I think if Hal actually made a list of all the people that knew his secret he may just stop wearing the mask.
Faraday & Chloe were perfectly characterized. That's exactly what I wanted to see when I brought them into this almost two years ago. A good working relationship going south over differing beliefs. I think that with everything that's happened between the two of them since the new issue #1 that this was just perfect!
Carlos, I like the cover a lot, but did we change the title font?
New Tales of the Green Lantern Corps. Hope everyone likes it... it's been a long time in the making! Let us know what you think!

Bloody hell John and Jay, what a bloody helter skelter ride you've taken us on! And more tying into JLvsA! This rocked!!

The brilliant plot parts are almost all down to John; I concentrated on the Star Sapphire Battle Royale.
I'm posting, though, to praise the Ex-GL Resistance backup story; that kind of freedom fighting warms my heart. I also liked the oblique reference to the John Stewart Mosaic era!

Thanks Scott! As long as you approve I don't care what anyone else thinks! I agree! Jay really made each woman to ever claim the title unique and well fleshed out in a short ammount of time. I was not as fimiliar with 'Cowgirl' since I haven't caught up yet with GL past issue #10 but I like that she was the 'winner'. I have noticed that Star Sapphire is in the current issues so I hope we added a little something different to the mythos there. Now I can't wait to catch up and see what John's has done. I hear he's a pretty good storyteller in his own right! ;D That was never suppose to be the plan it just kind of happened in the course of writing the story. Thanks again. I real wanted to keep the spirit of the characters that you established and lead them in a direction that I felt was a natural progression for both of them. If you liked this issue wait until you see what happens next month. Everything that has been coming to a head finally boils over and dare I say, neither will ever be the same again! That cover flat out rocked! But I have to take the credit/blame for the font and the cover dressing. I was inspired to do something a little different for this cover. This story really added the class that this title has been missing for the last couple of issues. Since I have been privy to seeing the entire run of Tales, I can say that this is only the beginning to a fantastic group of stories! Thanks Chuck. I took inspiration from what Brian did in JLA #6 and put my own little spin on it so all the credit goes to him. Oh my ever so humble partner in crime. I don't have to tell people that you are a great writer but I must correct you. What you added to the overall plot was immeasurable. Take a bow sir because you made this issue!

Everything I got on all the girls, save for Astruma who was mostly John's, came from Wikipedia. The "Cowgirl" winning the battle was just something that happened, as John said about Carol discovering GL's secret; originally, I had planned for it to be Dela. And John, dude, stop boosting my ego!

I do like the fact that Cowgirl ended up winning the battle... it's a new fresh take & gives Hal a more steady foundation for his relationship with Carol. In the old days when Carol wasn't Sapphire she was always portrayed as weak & infirm. I think this may just due away with that!
I'm glad you liked the Service & Sacrafice... The next 2 months we go a little more light hearted with Kilowog's tale and then we get all heavy again with a story penned by David (Idlewilder)!

I don't know which tale I liked better, so I'll just say they're both great and leave it at that...plus, thanks for not going with the obvious (Carol) on choosing the new Star Sapphire.

Thanks Susan for liking my bit part!
And I agree, he went the right way with Sapphire! In the DC book, Hal got all whiney when Carol was Sapphire. It annoyed me... This though, frees up new possibilities!

Another winner of an issue, here! I loved the fact that this was done-in-one, especially after a couple of longer arcs (I hate having to wait so long between issues )! Nicely played on the Star Sapphire arena. One thing that really grabs me in fantasy fiction is good naming! Astruma Medea and Dela Pharon deserve another shot at the stone just because it looks so cool to see their name on the page! Great action scenes in the arena, and some of the best characterization of Hal this side of Scott Kruger. My only gripe is that Little Miss Johnny-Come-Lately Cowgirl beat out Carol for the tiara! Though I seem to be alone in this, I actually enjoyed the "my enemy, my one true love" thing Hal and Carol had going on when she was Star Sapphire. Made for an interesting dynamic. But then, Hal has his hands full with the ladies. Seems like Chloe still has his back, at least! Great cover, as well, gentlemen! I am a big fan of Carlos' work, and this latest masterpiece is a crazy psychodelic freak-out (as it should be)! Love the bleeding colors and the swirlies! As for the back-up feature! Bravo! It's been a long time coming, but we finally get to see what's going on in the wider universe. The Manhunter Empire has the potential to rival the Sinestro Corps War in scope and drama, and I can't wait to see it unfold! Great beginning, Scott, and what a way to leave us wanting more...! Where are the other guardians? Can the scattered GLs reunite to liberate Oa? Who is this mysterious Grandmaster everyone is so afraid of? Will we ever see Ion?!?Keep up the terrific work, gents! Five stars all around!

Very action-packed! My head was spinning with seeing how all those ladies got frisky with each other. The ending with Carol seemed fitting, but I was sad about the portrayal of Jillian. She's pretty cool in the comics, but here she was very blood-thristy, but I guess that's fitting for Star Sapphire.
Hal's gonna have his hands full with Faraday too! Nice cliff-hanger!

Thanks for reading and responding. It means a lot. Jay weaved a great scenario with the ladies fighting it out for the role of Star Sapphire didn't he? I imagine that Jillian will pop up again at some point and might be mellower but thats up to the green team that is on the book going forward. All of the answers concerning Faraday and Hal should have been covered in the epic Justice League versus America and is a must read for EVERYONE!
