Another strong issue that continues to build on the steady foundation of everything that's come before. It felt quieter, more reflective, but there were still solid action beats in Clark dealing with Metallo, even if the latter was somewhat hindered by the loss of his power source. I'm continuing to enjoy the flashbacks into Clark's youth, and the glimpses of the past version of Martha and Jonathan make it abundantly clear how much their relationship is missed in the present. The horrible truth about Jerry White's parentage-- even though we could see it coming thanks to it's comic book source material having taken place in my own personal era of Superman in the 90s-- was difficult to read, and you could tell how much Alice regretted her actions, though Perry showed what kind of man he was by moving forward, regardless of the situation. That said, his promise to confronting Lex was worrying, and I'm hoping it doesn't get the Editor-In-Chief in trouble. I'm interested to see how the situation plays out with our different continuity-- Lex obviously being a different animal, inspired by Smallville, rather than the elder statesman that Perry is currently. What does that mean about his age? How old is Perry White? I think we'll find out very soon, as this story surges on. Emil Hamilton is fast becoming a breakout character here-- he takes everything in his stride, even transgendered-- or female identifying-- Kryptonian droids. I have enjoyed his scatterbrained, mad science spouting characterisation, and the scene with Kelex's "sister" was great stuff. I think any book worth its salt needs a strong supporting cast, and Kurt Busiek had a great Twitter thread ( click here to view his account) about it recently, which I'll post in its entirety: If there's one thing that sags for me somewhat, it's the Jose Delgado stuff, but I'm a fan of his character in the comics, so I'm looking forward to seeing the DC2 spin on Gangbuster arrive. You're giving every character their time in the sun, and the does mean that the series feels very broad at the minute, because you're having to check in with characters that maybe don't need as much spotlight right now as others, but I understand that you're moving pieces around, I understand you're building your world within the context of the site, so I'm still on board for the ride! Finally, it bears saying that I'm actually working quite hard on making my "guest" Action Comics arc very complimentary to this run so far. I'm taking a few cues from what you're doing and reflecting on it from a different angle, and I hope the two eventually read very well together. I know I have some plans to help ground a few events we've seen in the last few issues, and I can't wait to see them intertwine.

Thank you so much. I am doing some juggling with characters, but that is because I want it to feel like they are a part of Superman and Clark’s life. Your encouragement and advice have really helped me.

Thank you so much. I am doing some juggling with characters, but that is because I want it to feel like they are a part of Superman and Clark’s life. Your encouragement and advice have really helped me. And that makes perfect sense! I'm excited for you to take up the reins of Action Comics in the new year, because that'll give you even more space for the story to unfold, but until then, I hope you find the time to read and comment on my fill-in arc!

I just finished the current run on Superman and it has been a fun ride. It's great to see Superman back in action in the DC2 Universe! You have a good grasp of Clark and Lois, and I like seeing how nasty Lex Luthor can be, as always. I don't know anything about Perry White or Jose Delgado, so this will be my first version of these stories-- exciting!
I was a bit shocked by the attack at the high school, I will admit. Parasite is damn scary and any story should reflect that, but the body count-- and speed-- was a little steep. These were kids. School shootings-- and this was a super-powered school shooting-- are a very sad, sensitive subject. I guess I will need to see Superman reflecting on that, and how traumatic it can be, and not just as character motivation for Mr. Delgado.
That said, it was a very exciting series of issues over all. I like the fight with Parasite, featuring a clever use of powers. Superman's takedown was inspired. Like Charlie, I really like Emil Hamilton, he's proven a great secondary character so far and I want to see more. I'm sure the "mytsery transmissions" will return.
Cheers, Oblique
