We're nearly at #75! Exciting times! So with no further adieu, here's #74, and another look at Nathan Kilburn's stellar cover:

When I started writing this, I felt quite bad about it. I had broad strokes of where I wanted to be, but it's been a struggle to get the actual story out. I did something which is increasingly rare for me nowadays-- I hadn't started the second part of the story before posting the first. That meant that whatever happened in #73 stood, concrete, for me to follow up with in #74. Only having broad strokes and not a solid handle of the story meant that it was a difficult writing process... When the story is so focused on one group of characters and you can't really intercut events with the wider universe-- a staple of the Green Lantern Corps title these last couple of years-- it becomes hard to find a good flow or for the story to get from A to B to C smoothly. I was also estricted by the cover; Nathan did it a few months back, and it's great-- an absolutely stellar contribution, but it meant whatever initial brief I gave him stuck, and this was back when I only had the bare bones of a story planned in my head: Green Lantern Corps vs Justice Society of America. I also didn't provide any costume references, and said he could draw whoever he wanted for the line-up... so we ended up with characters in costumes they don't wear in the DC2, characters who haven't debuted yet or who have debuted in different forms... and hey, look, there's Hawkwoman. How do I make that work? So I struggled. But there was a point, and I think it was when I wrote the final sequence between Kyle and Sinestro, that things fell into place. The ending was what it needed to be, and I'm pleased with how it ended up because it sets up the next era of the title, but this shouldn't be how stories are developed in my opinion. To give you an idea, I sent in the first part of a three issue Justice League arc to Mark, and had the next two issues ready to go immediately, and that leaves me feeling quite good about the whole thing. But yes, here we are, I haven't started #75, but Roy and I have something cool planned. In the interim... why not have a glimpse at what's coming next month?

I'm struggling at the minute to write anything, so Justice League is currently getting all my attention. Unfortunately, that means the finale to this 'phase' of Green Lantern Corps is going to be delayed until I can break the story the way it needs to be written, so I hope you'll bear with me!

12,286 words later, and Green Lantern Corps #75 is finished. Another May story ready to see the light of day! Only two more months!
