Welcome back to DC2 Illustrated, our semi-regular anthology series where our magnificent art department takes center stage!
When we did the first issue of DC2I way back in November of 2005, we only had a handful of regular artists, but as our community has grown, so has our stable of talent. It is my very special honor and pleasure to showcase the work of not only our new members, but the consistently excellent work of our entire committed art department!
Herein, you will find some of the best of the original art created for the DC2, as well as some hitherto unseen pieces, such as alternate covers, unused interior art, and one or two surprises!
So, as I said six months ago: "There's something for everyone in DC2 Illustrated, so sit back, relax, and enjoy our feature presentation!"

Roy Flinchum was so inspired by Aquaman #6 (a story adapted by Brandon Herren from an original concept by Scott Kruger) that he drew this illustration from the issue. I believe it is titled: "S'man is pwned by AQ." Or something. Goldk

And yet another Superman piece by Roy--- who continues to set the standard for Superman imagery at the DC2 with a long, unbroken streak of covers on Adventures of Superman. This one is an early sketch from the artist's archives. Goldk

And lest Roy be stereotyped as "just" a Superman artist, here are a couple of that other guy. This one is a discarded concept for a cover of Detective Comics #2 (Roy later went with something a little different). This next pic is the pencil sketch for a Detective Comics cover, unfortuantely never used. Ladies and gentleman, the versatile Roy Flinchum!

Next Roy turned his hand to another popular DC2 character, Green Arrow. This pic is an alternate cover for the recently posted All-Star Comics #3 (check it out now!), and turned out great! Note the word reflected in the falling glass.

This next pic was the original, introspective, concept for Nightwing #1. The artist eventually went with a very different concept, but this image stands as an eloquent statement on the protagonist's state of mind Ramon Villalobos

Onto another team book, the breakout hit New Outsiders (currently helmed by brilliant Brian Burchette). This first pic came, unsolicted (and as an introduction), from ArtTeach, based on a scene from Issue 0. This was soon followed by this tribute cover, also by the astonishing ArtTeach... ...and these two great pin-ups, the second featuring Huntress' new fan-chosen costume!

This is a great segue into the Monthly Art Challenge which has become a staple of the DC2--- a chance for not just the staff, but all members to show their stuff. This particualr challenge was significant as it allowed the coumminity to choose the new look for the New Outsider's Huntress. And the winner was, by popular acclaim... From Art Director Killerseamonkey But we had some incredible designs come in, and it was a tight race to the end! Lots of extrapolation and some downright new directions. Here are the runners'-up: Ramon Villalobos DrDread JrFan Roy Flinchum Scott Kruger
