Ok, so, when the idea for Man-Bat R.I.P. first came to me, I immediately knew how it would end. The ending was pretty much what I started with in this case. All I had to do from there, was set up the catalysts that would lead up to it....
That said, I was pretty proud of the way this ended. Granted, like all my work, it has its flaws, but I'm still proud of this little arc!
I've always felt like Man-Bat was misunderstood and underrated, and I wanted to bring him into Terry's world (for however short a time) a put him in the limelight.... now for some honesty....
I hated writing the ending.... it was so sad for me, because I really like the character and hated to see him go.... Sure, I could've kept him around and brought him in every now and then, but that, I felt, would be a disservice to the character, simply having him pop up whenever I thought it would be cool...... Kirk Langstrom is such a tortured soul that, I felt he finally deserved some peace... so, that's what I gave him.....
Oh, and, that last line in the story.... the comparison that Terry makes...... That was thrown in there for you, Zirron, in light of your suggestion a few months ago..... Thanks for that, I think it fit in well....

Cam,
This is your best work thus far. Fitting end to Dr. Langstrom. I think you nailed the emotion really well.
I did have one quip though:
“I don’t know. That’s your problem, not mine.” Bruce said, keeping the smile on his face.
I don't believe Bruce Wayne would ever say this to his protege.
Here's my edit:
"I am a trained professional, Terry."
"Yeah, even that creeps me out."
"Good. Years of practice."
---
Good story though man.. my favourite so far of your run.
***** From me. Well done.

Thanks, Jay, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Seriously, it means a lot that you enjoyed it that much... I felt like I was really at home with this arc.... like I was sleeping through my first few issues and woke up here lol....
This has, so far, been my favorite issue as well. i only hope that I can continue forward with this quality of work... (but I'm sure if I slip, you guys will knock me back in line lol)

I liked this story. Man-Bat was made to be a very cool villain and Terry's relationship with Bruce continues to be a lot of fun; it's similar enough to the Batman/Robin relationship while still being unique enough to keep people interested.
The main problem with this issue (and the story overall) is that it felt kinda short and rushed. There's good stuff here; I think expanding that would make this story better. But as it is, it's very solid.
Another thing was that Bruce saying that Man-Bat would attack during the day pretty much said that Man-Bat was going to attack during the day. If that had come up as more of a surprise, it would have been beter. Again, as it stands, good stuff. I'll still be back next month.

Thanks UDC, glad you enjoyed my little romp through Man-Bat's last flight....
The reason I pretty much said that Man-Bat would attack during the day like that was because I wasn't going for surprise with the attack itself.... Rather, I wanted the surprise to focus more on how Terry reacts... I also wanted him to be stuck without his suit during all this so, for the first time during my run, he had to get by without his fists...
I guess the reason I tend to write shorter arcs is because of my Paul Dini influence... I've laways loved how his run on Detective was comprised of mostly 1 and 2 part stories (at least until the Hush arc).... The next issue after this will be a one-shot, but, after that, a slightly longer arc will kick-in..... as to what that arc is.... there will be clues at the end of the next issue lol...

He is thinking of doing a Hush story arc. Chief help save me it is the return of Hush. Dragon is fliying as fast as she can to hide in a cave to curl up shivering in fear.

lol well, that would be a cool idea, but, I don't really see how I could bring him into the beyond universe at this point......other than by just reinventing him and doing a "Hush Beyond" character... which I would NEVER DO!

HEHEHEHEHE Too much time travel. KD but then again it might be fun.

lol, don't worry about that.... No time-traveling Hush on my watch! Hush isn't booster gold, he stays in his own time like a good little psychopath! haha!

This was a terrific Man-Bat story, except for the ending which made me sad. I'm really intrigued about the murder mystery that is looming out on the horizon though.
My favorite moment had to be the small but funny scene where Bruce actually smiles at Terry. I chuckled out loud at that.
Still, this was the story of Langstrom and you did right by him, that's for sure.
And that cover is mesmerizing. In a week of really beautiful covers, this one popped right out at me. Excellent job folks!

wow.... going into this arc, I really didn't expect Man-Bat to be so well-received.... I mean, I consider Batman's rogue's gallery to be the best in the history of comics..... so many diverse and colorful villains, no two the same and each one bringing something cool and unique to the table.... even Zsasz had his moments!
So, since Man-Bat isn't one of the "heavy-hitters" like, say, Penguin or Two-Face, I was afraid he might be a disappointment, I'm glad to see that I was wrong..... guess it just goes to show you that, when you have an idea you're passionate about, just go for it, because if nothing else, you've written a story you can be proud of....
Thanks for reading, everyone!

Thanks for reading, everyone! -Cam- See Cam now you see that not only are Chief and I proud of the work that you did and are doing but others also like it. Shard it take what Chief and I did in Shazam during Evil Within. That was something that came out of my darkest depths of my mind and no one has done anything like that before. I don't even think that the "Heart of Darkness" is anything of the sort or even if DC has any such thing. Then you throw in that we took Dragon King and made him a thrall of Satannus and then turned Freddy Freeman into a thrall of his too and that Freddy actually killed Riz and I was killing off homeless persons left and right I think the body count for that story line alone ended up around 23. And yes there was a certain point to the number killed too. *No giving away future stories Chief* But I digress sorry. Anyways you take something like what you just did with Man-bat and you will find that it could very well be well received because it is new and different. Again good work talk to you soon. KD *The one in the back with the black scales and wings with a large tail that breathes fire all over the place and hides in the corner behind Dave and Mark to keep out of the Chiefs' sights. Oh dang here he comes I'm off later*
