To be honest, this issue fell a bit short for me. Terry's detective skills were surprisingly lacking, the dialogue was awkward at parts and some of the scenes carried on longer then they needed to. Ira's "evil brother" was an idea that came completely out of left field and wasn't developed at all. Maybe you're setting up a plot point for the future, but at the moment it just seems like an unnecessary complication.
However, there were still some good parts. The character's voices were very distinct and consistent and Nathan is an interesting addition to the mythos. But mostly, you wrote about how Terry is still learning the trade, and that while he's still getting better, Bruce is (and always will be) light years ahead of him. That much works here.
I'll still be back next month.

thanks UDC, as always, for your comments! I'm not afraid to say I made more than a few mistakes closing this arc. A lot of crap happened while I was trying to finish it, like my grandfather being put in the hopital etc.... I was down at the hospital a lot and didn't have a whole lot of time to write and, when I did get the time, I had to cram like crazy.... and also, due to lack of planning, I discovered that, I really needed more than two issues to wrap up this story.....
Because of my dragging things out in certain places in the first half of the story, I realized that I wouldn't be able to wrap it up in two issues like I wanted to.... the problem? I didn't have quite enough to make it a three parter without dragging it out too much... so, it all stems from my poor planning..... this is my first ongoing, so I'm still learning the ropes on it.....
And yes, you guess right! Spellbinder will be back (with better planning) and the plot WILL thicken lol
Next up is an arc that I'm excited about and I hope the rest of you enjoy it as well..... wanna know what it's called?.........
Man-Bat R.I.P.
that's all I can say lol.....
Again, I hope you guys will stick with me while I get my bearings on this whole "ongoing" thing.... things WILL GET BETTER! I PROMISE!

Oh, and, as for Terry's detective skills....
I made them lacking on purpose.... right now he's in the learning phase..... and yes, Bruce will always be the best and that point had to be made, but Terry will be learning, growing, and becoming (slightly) less dependent on Bruce for everything as time goes on! You'll actually see some slight improvement in Terry's skills next arc.... not in-depth really, but I'm making sure to note that he's learning....
Also glad you liked Nathan.... I'm sad to say he won't be back next arc, but he'll be back shortly, as soon as I get some other things out of the way.... I'm looking to build his character pretty soon and I hope he'll be well-recieved by everyone!

Sorry Cam I couldn't get into this issue... I thought there was more opportunity here to weave a deeper mystery and it fell short.. I liked some of the dialogue between Bruce and Terry.. I think you've got that relationship down really well, but Terry doesn't seem like the one that should be wearing the Batsuit..
And maybe that's the point? But It really is kind of distracting to hear one thing and see another... Spellbinder story doesn't work either here as I remember him he's more about deception.. than trickery like Riddler... but maybe those are intentional?
Not sure, but I thought part one was much stronger.
I give it three stars.. (just barely)

believe me, I understand your disappointment..... I've been beating myself up over this issue like crazy..... I'm learning from this mistake though, it won't happen again... (instead it will be a completely new mistake lol)

You shouldn't beat yourself up at all. Yes, there were some weak points that have been addressed, but there was a lot going on here that was great. Characterization was at the top of the list. You done good. Looking forward to the next issue.

Thanks, Brian. I'm glad you liked the characterization; it's something I put a lot of work in.... I try to make each voice distinct and instantly recognizable, guess I'm decent at it lol..... thanks again, and hopefully I'll see you next month!
