"I believe in Gotham."
I liked that line. Warren McGinnis is Bruce Wayne without the tragedy, with a dash of Commisioner Gordon thrown in for good measure. Of course it was a shame that his death was so inevitable.
The thing with this book is that I want to like it. Honestly, I want to love it, but Batman Beyond has been done. It's been done to perfection by Bruce Timm and everyone else. To rehash it seems like a mistake, and yes, I see that you've tried to deviate from the original story by introducing elements of DKR, and instead of Bruce giving up because he nearly used a gun (If I remember rightly) it's because someone died because of his weakness, but it doesn't matter.
You're retreading something that in my opinion is perfection, and that's never good for the writer, even if he wrote the book as well as you did.
Hope, I enjoyed it as much as I could, but the fact of the matter was that Batman Beyond has been done already like this. Pretty much exactly like this. Now, if Tim was the future Batman, or it was someone completely unknown to us, that you could build from the ground up, that could have been cool, but now I'm just waiting around for Dick's inevitable cameo, and for you to rehash all the other stuff that happened in the pilot.
No offense, and like I said, it was well written, but the story's been done.

Thanks for the kind words. Charlie, you're right that the original was done so perfectly that to write it now is a challenge. I feel that Hope is up to that challenge. This is only the beginning, just stick around and see how everything progresses. Thanks for your kind words for you too DragonBat. Mischief

Huh. Interesting retelling of the story. Terry's involvement with gangs is a nice twist and it fits in well. However, I was looking forward to more interaction between Terry and Bruce. Although granted, that's bound to come up later in the series.
A nice familiar kick-off to a good series.

I loved this! I loved the original show, so my curiosity was piqued, and I found myself loving it!
I like your take on the Batman Beyond legend. I also liked the nod to DKR in the Mutants gang. I know there are some that say you shouldn't be writing this, but you're not re-writing the show. You're doing your own spin on it. I think if Paul Dini and Bruce Timm read this, they'd like it.
I like the fact that you had Dick Grayson appear. That was the only problem I ever had with the show now that I think about it. We never found out what happened to him.
Can't wait for issue #2!

It's taken me a while and I apologize for that, but I finally got to read this and it was great! And this comes from someone who never liked the series that much. I have to agree with Charlie that the best line was, "I believe in Gotham." That summed it all up perfectly!
Hope has set up a wonderful world where he is making it his own while tipping his hat to the original creators of the original series. My hat off to him, that is not an easy task.
I also want to give a really HUGE thank you to Chief and Dragon for taking the reigns on this as both artist and editor. I'm very proud to have you as part of the Elseworlds team! You've given us a great debut!
Kudos to everyone!
