I was telling Don last week or so how happy I am with this issue. Apparently I can tell a GL story without the end of the universe happening in the background. Good times!

Wow, Charlie, what a powerful issue! The world wasn't in danger, like you said, but this issue still crackled with energy.
First, it was smooth and easy to follow despite the large cast. I continue to enjoy Hal and Chloe's deepening relationship and it's nice to see them interact with more of Hal's extended family. I love "slice of life" moments for superheroes, and this issue was a great example of how to draw on that well for drama.
That said, I had a little trouble with some of the presentation of disability. It made sense, given how macho Hal and his brothers are and how they were raised, but it would have been nice if someone else had provided an additional perspective for poor Jim and, perhaps even more importantly, his son. Boy will need some real therapy.
The scenes with Kyle held less resonance for me as I'm not up to date on Nightwing or Teen Titans, but you did a fine job covering the relevant details. It was a fascinating scene with Kyle and Donna with some almost sinister plot hooks for later! Man, Kyle, someone should have seen this coming...too much power and all that!
I love what you've done with Sinestro, Guy, and Arisia; it was a great moment for all of them. Enjoy it while it lasts indeed. This was a great issue, Charlie, thank you for all your hard work on the title, it really pays off in character-driven stories like this one. Cheers!

Wow, Charlie, what a powerful issue! The world wasn't in danger, like you said, but this issue still crackled with energy. I really wanted to do a Christmas issue. By virtue of the date some issues land-- for example, December's issue (hopefully) of Justice League is the final part of a five issue arc-- I very rarely get to do something along these lines, so I leapt at the opportunity. Also, there wasn't anybody else really kicking about on the site at the time so doing a Christmas Special didn't make any sense, so yeah, this was a great opportunity to try something different. Again, it was all about clearing the board ready for what came next. I like writing characters chatting! I could write-- and have-- groups of personalities just bouncing off each other, and that's where I lean into when I'm a bit lost. Tying my want to write a Christmas issue along with my love of talking was a dream come true. Chloe's addition to the DC2 mythos was a great addition that grew from original Tales of the Green Lantern Corps writer Scott Kruger, and I'm glad that I can carry that torch into the present day. Establishing their love was so vital to my plans to the title, but it also grew out of their interactions. Sure, Hal knocked Chloe up and there was no expectation there... I could have easily had a strong, dynamic character like her have an abortion, but I liked this better. Hal's done a lot, he's been through a lot, but what if he was out the picture for a while? What would stop him from ring slinging? Baby Jessica was the answer. He wants to be as good a dad to his daughter as his father was to him, and I think that's his biggest passion at the moment. That said, I had a little trouble with some of the presentation of disability. It made sense, given how macho Hal and his brothers are and how they were raised, but it would have been nice if someone else had provided an additional perspective for poor Jim and, perhaps even more importantly, his son. Boy will need some real therapy. Would you elaborate, please? I'd like to get to grips with what you're suggesting. I think I track what you mean, because I think I was more interested in presenting Hal as the hero, rather than Jim as the victim. Jim was hurt because of the Predator's vendetta against Hal, and Hal has previously come to the realisation that if his willpower is strong enough, he could cure cancer and maybe even death (that was in my first arc I ever wrote, with those dynamite DrDread covers), so it made sense that he "fix" the problem he had caused. It probably wasn't elegant, because I think the moment is more heart than head, but I'm sorry it didn't come across like that. The thing is, while Ramon originally alluded to Kyle and Donna's relationship, it wasn't really covered anywhere! There was an arc in Nightwing, and mentions here and there, but I wanted to actually establish that this was a thing. If it was written, it happened, so we need to honour that as best we can. Kyle though, he's not the man he once was, and Donna has grown as well. I wish we had Kyle running around more in Teen Titans back in the day when he was Ion the first time around. That would have been cool, but I don't think it was meant to be. I love what you've done with Sinestro, Guy, and Arisia; it was a great moment for all of them. Enjoy it while it lasts indeed. This was a great issue, Charlie, thank you for all your hard work on the title, it really pays off in character-driven stories like this one. Cheers! Thanks! We don't really get "hangout" stories as the series progresses, but I liked writing "the gang" in Green Lantern Corps: Brightest Day, the 10YL tie-in, as well as last year's Christmas Special. I hope I can get to a place where they're able to hang out again, but as I write Green Lantern Corps #75, I know it's going to be a while until they're all able to get a pint at their local... to be continued and all that...
