Hello all!
I'm going live with #4 of Green Lantern this coming Wednesday, so I'm pretty psyched.
The issue page is all set up to go, I just need to post the content, which I'm actually really excited for.
I'm going to try and reach a natural point with this story, as it's a little different from previous arcs. It's more of a mini-run than anything, because I have a very set story arc in mind, but it's not like #4 features one totally unrelated story to #5, which is totally unrelated to #6, instead everything leads into it. Less "Monster of the Week" more... serialised cosmic hijinks. Sure, one issue might feature Guy more than John more than Salaak, but they're all inside the same story.
I hope my ramblings become clearer as the issues launch. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm about to head to the cinema to see Much Ado About Nothing, and I'll be back here on Wednesday to launch the latest Green Lantern issue!
Oh, and yes, #3 will come eventually, but this is more exciting for me to write!

First things first, it's great to have you back Charlie, for however long that is. You were the backbone of this place for so long and .. it's great to see a new story from you.
And this story is a perfect place for readers to come on. I thought it summarized the whole Green Lantern saga on DC2 succinctly, The exposition felt natural in this story, when it sometimes feels forced in others. Each lantern is given their time and looks like they are in for grave challenges. I'm looking forward to seeing how the seeds you planted here germinate how these concepts will be DC2-imized

Thanks Alex, I really appreciate it. Glad to see the site still ticking away, even if it is at a reduced speed!
I've had this story in my head for years. When I was in New York, back in 2010, I met up with Masoud (He goes by "crow" here, but it's been a while) and we walked up and down Manhattan and I was this crazed 20 year old going on about this massive Green Lantern over arc I had planned, and it's only now, three years later, that I'm able to get it out. I wish I'd kept up the momentum of the Predator arc and the relaunch, but hey, it's happening now, and I'm halfway through next issue (I'll send it over as soon as I can!).
Every single character has got a future mapped out, and every single story beat has been broken down for three years.
Let's see what happens next!

I skipped finishing off #3 (I have ten pages written, but it was during a typically uncreative period, so it's quite forced) and needed a clear launch pad so started again with #4. I'll return to #3 when I'm rolling again! Why wouldn't you read an Earth-1 Green Lantern book? It's right here! It's going to be relatively monthly! It's old school DC2 action ACTION ACTION! I've not been asked to write an Earth-A GL, but I think Alex knows where my heart lies (Earth-1!!!) so you're not going to see me in that sandbox. That's not to say it's not a BRILLIANT line of stories-- loved Alex's recent Earth-A Presents launch!!-- but I built Earth-1 from the ground up with David, Scott, Brandon, Brian, Don, Kevin, Mark, Pat, and SO MANY OTHERS as the years went on that I know where I'm home! Blimey, that went on a bit... but yes, thanks for reading!

Mitchell, if you want to read a GL book, you can't go wrong with Earth One's.
While Charlie, and any of the old guard DC2 have an open invitation to write whatever they want on Earth A, I haven't asked anyone to write an Earth A book, nor would I. It's not something I believe in doing, you should write something when your inspired to do so.
And I do agree with him 100%. Earth 1 is the original and the best. Charlie's GL, Vic's Tec, and Fantomas's Batman Inc are great current reads and I recommend you and everyone check them out, along with the rest of the catalog. You won't find better stories anywhere else and I assure you they will be worth your time. Hopefully Jay will get Titans jump-started and I can tell you that a certain Amazon Queen has her next issue written and we should be seeing it out soon.

I love the GL Earth One. But I'd also love to read a GL Earth A. Plus the Earth One writing just is amazing and I'd want to see that in Earth A's GL. I love both Earth One and Earth A, just like I love the Golden Age and New 52. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This is fun stuff. There's something boisterous about it, in an old fashioned adventure tale kinda way, packed with characters and nice flavoursome sci-fi background. The way you handle the campily named Evil Star, playing him straight villainous in a self-aware, knowing wink way is perfectly indicative of the vibe I got - and enjoyed - from your style.
It's GL with space adventure, broad scope and a wide and exotic cast, and I really need to go back and read your previous issues.

Evil Star is going to have a very bad day very soon, but that's a few issues down the line. He still needs to pay for the Solomon Grundy Virus he helped develop back in V2 #1... Things are about to get even bigger, and I know that some people don't like the Rainbow Corps concept, but I'm going to try and put a spin on it that will be a little different than what you're used to. No fear parasite though!

I'm down with that.
My GL reading is pretty weak, but I always thought the rainbow corps were a nice idea. Gave a real big space opera angle.

All you need for this run is on DC2 waiting for you. I was going to drop Editor's Notes but it's such a dense story at times with references across the last 30 issues, it might put people off!

Catching up here. Just did Universe Flash and doing this now. Two issuse a night, I'll get there.
Damn, Alan died? Somebody will have to fix that. As you already fixed Kyle, so kudos for that. Sinestro's been redeemed, but Henshaw isn't. And now the red lanterns come. You always dream big!
As for Titans, as somebody mentioned, yeah, I'm working on it. (I'm always working on it.)
I'll catch the red lantern issue sometime in the next few days!

I'll catch the red lantern issue sometime in the next few days! Alan died in one of the last issues of JSA that David wrote. Funny thing is, I spoke to David recently, and he's given me permission to use the Golden Age as I would, and all the characters under that umbrella, so maybe... just maybe... we'll see what happens. I always like Alan Scott being on the fringe of the Green Lantern mythos, so if there's a way I can tie him into the overarching story, you know I'll find it Kyle and Sinestro are going to be big players in the next few issues, and Hank... Hank will have his time, be it for revenge or redemption... again, we'll see. RED LANTERN CORPS!!! YARRRRGHHH!

Alan Scott didn't actually die--- he was in a coma at the end of Justice Society of America #13, and his future looks mighty bleak, but... You never know where he might show up next ! Great issue, Charlie! I'm making my way through the backissues to catch up on this title, but I wanted to drop you a quick note. Love your new, punchy and to-the-point style perfected in this title. John is a great leading man in your hands. The threat brewing with Mongul and the Predator in the Sceince Cells is ominous, but not as ominous as what's going on with Kyle and Sinestro. This is an interesting take on the Corps, too. So, is Salaak the leader now? Is there a council or something? I wonder what new dynamic will result of having the Zamorans sharing Oa? And I would be remiss if I didn't gush about the great Joey Jarin cover! Man, that guy can do no wrong in my book. On to the next issue!

Alan Scott didn't actually die--- he was in a coma at the end of Justice Society of America #13, and his future looks mighty bleak, but... You never know where he might show up next ! Lost to a coma, David! Lost to a coma!Great issue, Charlie! I'm making my way through the backissues to catch up on this title, but I wanted to drop you a quick note. Love your new, punchy and to-the-point style perfected in this title. John is a great leading man in your hands. Thanks, David. I'm trying hard to make the narrative as straightforward as possible. I've said elsewhere that I read Elmore Leonard's 10 Rules of Writing ( link) and the one that rang true for me was the following: Try to leave out the part that readers tend to skip.
A rule that came to mind in 1983. Think of what you skip reading a novel: thick paragraphs of prose you can see have too many words in them. What the writer is doing, he’s writing, perpetrating hooptedoodle, perhaps taking another shot at the weather, or has gone into the character’s head, and the reader either knows what the guy’s thinking or doesn’t care. I’ll bet you don’t skip dialogue. So that's what I'm trying to do, be as pure with it as possible. I'm glad to see it's working! The threat brewing with Mongul and the Predator in the Sceince Cells is ominous, but not as ominous as what's going on with Kyle and Sinestro. Two great threads that culminate in #8 and #9! I'm really pleased with how they've come together! This is an interesting take on the Corps, too. So, is Salaak the leader now? Is there a council or something? I wonder what new dynamic will result of having the Zamorans sharing Oa? There is a Council, with Salaak being the main man. It's something I intend to build upon after #50. The whole structure is going to be defined clearly. And I would be remiss if I didn't gush about the great Joey Jarin cover! Man, that guy can do no wrong in my book. Holy shit, yes! It's a brilliant cover!
