Well it's been a while since I picked up a pencil. I didn't really have anything in mind to draw, so I went over to the Mutants and Masterminds forums, because people are always asking for drawings of their superheroes. I found an interesting one there. I've never actually drawn any western themed pictures before, so I figured I may as well have a little fun with that one, and try to work out the cobwebs stuck to all my pencils... This is a superhero called Lady Marshall, Spirit of the West. She is like a supernatural gunslinger type. Based on the description of the costume, etc, here is what I came up with. It is just done with a 2H pencil on Bristol... Nothing fancy or special.

Welcome back, Trevor! At first I thought this was Cinnamon (so you know you got at least my--- and Susan's!--- attention)... Beautiful image, sir! You have been missed around here. There's gotta be some titles around here looking for a cover artist, and your stuff is always so good... Looking forward to seeing your work grace the DC2 again.

I am not sure who Cinnamon is... But okay! Yeah my life has been hell the last few months. Been too stressed out from work to draw. I finally said F*** IT! And I applied for a new job. Same money, different department, less stress. I am hoping I get it! Will know in a few weeks. The overtime is starting to level off at work, and I finally feel like drawing again! The good news is, after drawing this picture, I personally don't feel like my absence has set my skill back too much. I drew this picture in four hours. Hopefully I can continue to improve my skill and speed. I felt I was drawing a little slower than normal because of the break. Trying to remember concepts, perspective, and mental measurements in my head took some time to recall. I am really sorry I had to leave so abruptly. The overtime cut heavily into my drawing time, and the stress wiped out any motivation to draw, as I still have a wife to maintain. I really missed doing covers and working with you excellent writers. I don't want to get into a situation yet where I am relied upon too heavily, until I know how the job I applied for pans out, so hopefully there is a cover here and there that needs to be drawn in the meantime. I've been reading a lot of comics, and analyzing the different coloring techniques being used. You will probably see a big change in my coloring style with my next drawings. Thanks for the welcome, it is much appreciated.

I too thought this was absolutely Cinnamon until I read the explanation of the picture. A great, great piece of art, and let me know if you'd like to cover any of my DC2 or DC3 titles, because I'd love to have you back on one of them. Ultimate All-Stars could use a good artist like you. Meanwhile, just for your own edification, Cinnamon was a DC Wild West character of some popularity, and a great character indeed (and has shown up here in the DC2U in the fantastic Weird Western Quarterly). There was recently a mini-series that put a modern-day cowgirl Cinnamon to work as well, as you can see below. Wild West CinnamonModern-Day CinnamonTake care Don

Crazy! I didn't know DC did Western stuff! This Lady Marshall could easily be Cinnamon or a variation of her. She is even supposed to have red hair according to the person asking for her! The person who made this character, might have been inspired by her, as her description is very close to what your links are showing. Here is the link to the original request. www.atomicthinktank.com/viewtopic.php?t=30273I don't know which covers are free to draw as I don't see an inventory of which titles are missing artists. I would be nice if someone posted something in the Art Department thread showing current vacant titles who need artists, or you could just send me a pm of what titles need a cover. I have been out o touch for a few months, so I am not sure. I am sure, however, that I can pump some drawings out for you very soon. I plan to do some drawing tonight, throughout the week and weekend. I am good drawing whatever, for whomever. Just give me some options sooner than later, so I can get working on it soon. I began drawing again this weekend, but I really didn't know what to draw (mind blank on ideas). That is why you see the random drawing above.

Trevor, if you check the "Art Department" forum found near the top of the page, you'll see that there is a complete listing of titles for each month, with who has what covers, and which ones are unclaimed as yet, right at the top of that page. So we do actually keep track of them, and there's several holes in the schedule right now.
If you're interested in DC3, just PM me and I'll let you know what's not covered.
Take care Don

Okay so if it says TBA that means there is no one drawing them? Yeah, DC2 or DC3 is fine. It is all the same to me. A cover is a cover.

TBA=To be announced So yeah that means that no one's drawing em. Yes, but you're probably best double-checking with the editor of the book first, just so that they can verify that's still the case, and so that they can update the cover artist information. If you're not sure who the editor is, then you can always PM me and I'll forward the request on.

Here is a sneak peek at my pencils for a villain who is appearing in the next Ultimate Supergirl over at DC3 (before I destroy it with my horrible inking and coloring skills)... I've been practicing my pencil rendering a lot over the last few weeks. It took me about 3 hours to draw this. I couldn't find any good pictures of this villain, so this is my take on him... I tried to give him a facial expression of looking "mischievious". Because of the lack of references, I am hoping I didn't make him look wrong... I hope you can guess who he is...

Pencil work is gorgeous. Colouring doesn't disappoint, either.
Mxyzptlk cover is one of my favourites here, quite easily.

Thanks guys. Here is one I did last night. Just drew a new costume for my wife's character. Her name is Tazer and she is an Electricity Controller. We are role playing geeks, and we are transferring over to the Hero System V5.0 (Champions) from Mutants and Masterminds. So we rebuilt her character and she wanted a fresh look for it. I will probably ink and color this one at some point. Done in pencils on Comic Art Board.

There is a new villain in town. It is way past her bedtime and her footy-pajamas are making her irritable! Beware the lightsaber...
